XanaNews HTTP is an NT/Windows2000/Windows XP service designed to
transport the NNTP protocol using HTTP on port 80. It doesn't work with
Windows 95 or Windows 98.
It is designed to allow you to use newsgroups that would otherwise be inaccessible because of your ISP or companies firewall policy.
Please note that you should always seek permission from your ISP or network administrator before using the XanaNews HTTP
Transport Server.
Generally, network administrators will give permission if you can show them a good case for letting you access newsgroups, and they
will often prefer you to use a tunnelling solution, rather than having to change their policies for everyone.
But if you use XanaNews HTTP Transport without asking permission, you may get fired for breaching company network policy! So pay
particular attention to the Mozilla public licence under which this software is released - particularly the bit that says:
| Software distributed under the License is distributed on an "AS IS"
| basis, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, either express or implied. See
| the License for the specific language governing rights and
| limitations under the License.
You may obtain a copy of the License at http://www.mozilla.org/MPL/
XanaNews HTTP Transport Server should work with most Windows newsreaders, but of course I recommend you use XanaNews!
Version 1.0.0.0 released 13th September 2003. Please see the read me file for details of what's new.
