Miscellaneous Components

The Miscellaneous Components package contains a number of handy components that can be used in your Delphi applications.

• TColorSelector allows you to choose a color - either from a palette of up to 256 colors or from a Hue/Saturation/Luminescence map if higher color depths are required.
  
  

• Drop a TStandardSystemMenu on your application's main form.  It's Window Menu will now have the standard options - Restore, Move, Size, Minimize, Maximize and Close, rather than the subset provided by normal Delphi applications.
  
  
• THTMLHelp is a very simple component that gives your application access to the new HTML help format.  Have a look at the 'Resource Editor' demo to see the sort of features it provides.
  
  
• TDirectoryTreeView provides an Explorer style directory tree view.
  
  
• TFileListView provides an Explorer style file list view.
  
  
• TMRUList provides a configurable list of Most Recently Used files that your applications have opened.
  
  
• Drop a TRunOnce component on your main form, and you will only be able to run a single instance of your application on a computer at any one time.  But that's not all!  It's OnOtherInstance event gets called if another instance tries to start, passing the command line parameters from the second instance.
  
  
• Drop a TPersistentPosition on your main form, and your application will run at it's previous position.  Supports Minimize and Maximized states, too.
  
  
• TTreeList is an experimental multi-column tree view.  It's not quite there yet, but it sort of works, and may come in useful as a starting point for a more sophisticated control.
  
  
• Drop a TTrayIcon component on your main form to put an Icon on the system tray.  The component provides support for the tray icon's popup menu.
  
  
• TMediaPlayerMemoryFile allows you to play wave and AVI memory images using the regular Delphi TMediaPlayer component.  You can create the memory images on-the-fly or load them from resources.
  
  
• The TShellTree component provides a Directory Tree View, using the shellapi interfaces.
  
  
• The TInvisibleWinControl component is derived from TWinControl, and can be used as a base class for your invisible-at-runtime ActiveX controls.
  
  
• I used the TOpenDialogEx and TSaveDialogEx controls in my registry editor demo.  They show how to create custom Open and Save dialog boxes, based on the standard Windows ones.
